Director Career and Technical Education
Bob Witchger is the Director of Career and Technical Education for the North
Carolina Community College System. Overseeing and funding projects to enhance
career and technical education programs in North Carolinas 58 Community
Colleges.   Prior to his present position, Bob was the state postsecondary
director for College Tech Prep. He worked with the North Carolina Department
of Labor as Assistant Bureau Chief for Apprenticeship and Director of Youth
and Pre-Apprenticeship. He is the current President of the North Carolina
Employment and Training Association and served as the chairman of North
Carolina’s State Occupational Information Coordinating Committee (SOICC)
for four years. Early in his career, Bob supervised a school district’s
multidisciplinary team in implementing a district career planning, assessment
and placement program for local businesses, industries, and dislocated auto
workers.  Bob has been a career counselor, job coach, teacher, and project
manager for state and federal job training programs. His credentials include:
Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy (St. Bernard College in Alabama);
Master’s degree in Occupational Education (University of Michigan);
Certificate in Manpower Administration from the Institute of Labor and
Industrial Relations (University of Michigan); and a Doctoral degree in Adult
and Community College Education (North Carolina State University). Bob is
also a Certified Career Development Facilitator Trainer and Trainer of
Trainers.
